In the Deep South, loads of folks still think of 'ze Gerrrmans' as Krauts. If they think of them at all. Or something along those lines. In Germany, one likes to think that everyone in the Southern States of that imaginary country across that big puddle is called Bubba, drives a beaten up pickup truck and says "yup" all day long. Or something along those lines.
